Spa Travel on the Rise

Spa vacations promise rest and relaxation to travelers who are used to a busy schedule.

SpaFinder Wellness recently reveled the results of their 6th annual “State of Spa Travel” report. Every year, the company surveys global travel agents and gauges the strength of the spa travel market. Findings are based on an in-depth survey of 160+ travel agents around the world, completed during the fourth quarter of 2012. Their 68-page report contains valuable information and we’re breaking it down for you here:

  • The report indicates that Mexico/the Caribbean surpassed North America as the top global spa travel destination in 2012.
  • Hawaii took the lead as the number one U.S. region.
  • Spa travel was up in 2012 over 2011. Sixty-eight percent of travel agents reported growth in the number of clients choosing spa travel last year.
  • In 2012, there was an increase in the average price-per-night-booked for spa travel, with the majority of bookings now falling above $300 per night.
  • Three percent of travel agents reported their spa travel bookings have increased since the emergence of deal sites.
