How Emergency Medical Works
You may need to seek medical attention if you become sick or injured while on your trip. Travel insurance pays benefits for the covered expenses up to your plan’s benefit limit. TravelSafe will cover up to $100,000 in medical expenses. This is dependent upon which plan you purchase, so be sure to read your policy.
Exclusions
It is especially important to read your plan documents. Read the exclusions to understand what will disqualify travelers from Emergency Medical benefits.
Pre-Existing Conditions
If you have pre-existing conditions and are looking for coverage, it is important to know how the waiver works. It’s a time-sensitive benefit, so purchasing your plan early on is important.
Here’s how the Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion Waiver works:
- Available in the Classic and Classic Plus plan only.
- You have to purchase the plan within 21 days of your initial trip deposit.
- You have to be able to travel at the time you purchase the plan.
When Emergency Medical Pays
Reimbursements
You may see the doctor and pay out of pocket. Keep those receipts, because TravelSafe will reimburse you for any qualifying doctor’s visits while traveling.
Promise to Pay
There are hospitals abroad that require payment prior to treatment. Advance payment will be made to a hospital if needed to secure your admission.
Here’s how:
- The injury or sickness must be a covered in your policy.
- The advance payment will be up to the maximum benefit amount in your policy.
